"You Can't Control
How Success Blooms."
Hi Tom!
While reading your emails regarding Quantum Selling, I was reminded
of a personal experience that I'd like to share with you.
Many years ago I got a "wild hair" to plant an elaborate
bulb garden in the yard of the house where I was living. What started
as a simple idea quickly became a huge project.
I spent hours drawing out the design of the garden, deciding exactly
what bulbs to plant in each area, locating the bulbs, purchasing
them, preparing the ground for planting...it went on and on. During
the process I made a point of telling family and friends about the
garden, assuring them that when Spring arrived they would be "awestruck"
by the beauty of what I was creating.
Then the "challenges" began! The place where I'd planned
to put the garden had to be dug up by the cable company in order
to fix a problem in the line...my planting was delayed...in the
process of rearranging some
furniture during "Autumn Cleaning" my carefully divided
box of bulbs got knocked over, leaving them in a jumbled and confusing
pile on the floor. After spending hours trying to sort them out,
I finally gave up and decided to just plant them in a random design...then
the Autumn rains started, further delaying my planting. The rains
soon turned colder and I began to panic as the planting season quickly
disappeared...finally on what must have been the last sunny day
of Autumn I hastily planted my bulb garden...but the challenges
continued...my darling dogs decided that the new garden was the
perfect place to bury their treats...so many of the bulbs got "transplanted"
in the process! We had a late Spring that next year, as the Winter
winds continued to blow longer than usual...a few bulbs made a brave
attempt to push above the surface, but were quickly nipped by the
cold air...I made futile attempts to protect them from late frost
and spent time each day just staring at the garden, wondering what
challenge I would have to face next. It became, as one dear friend
said, an "obsession" ...I wasn't worried so much about
my own disappoint, but worried more about what others would think
when my "labor of love" did not produce the results I'd
promised!
Then at the advice of that same dear friend, I put all my focus
on other things...I let the garden go, I stopped trying to control
the outcome and just let nature flow. I'd stated my intention months
earlier, I'd "planted the seeds" and done the work...I
had to let go so the garden could manifest.
A beautiful morning in late Spring my eyes caught a glimpse of color
in the backyard. When I went to investigate I was overwhelmed with
what appeared before me! When I least expected it, the garden had
started to bloom...although the colors and patterns were not anything
close to my original plan, it was far more beautiful than I would
have ever imagined it could be! That year the garden was enjoyed
by many and I'm sure that whoever lives in that house now, is enjoying
it still!
Tom, I wanted to share this with you because I feel that Quantum
Selling is a lot like that garden! You've stated your intention,
you've planted the
seeds, you've done the work...now is the time to let it go, stop
trying to control the outcome and just let nature flow!
Have faith, Tom. Quantum Selling will "bloom" in it's
own time and the results will be far more incredible than you ever
imagined it could be, not just for you, not just for your Quantum
Marketing students (like me) but for many others, for many years
to come!
Live Your Dreams!
Cynthia ...
